Our Days
Our days roll by
like clouds in the sky
I write my songs, I live my life
Danger
The sun rises over your skin
A different day to live again
The perfect world
You and I
Strangers
Time is river running cold and fast
I am a rock, worn away at last,
driven to the sea
to be reclaimed by...
Signals of smoke and obscure signs,
imaginary boxes with imaginary sides
Therapy du jour can hardly
save me
Heat from the atmosphere of your love
Stars in the sky or orbiting space junk
How would I know the
difference?
Time is river running cold and fast
I am a rock, worn away at last,
driven to the sea
to be reclaimed by...
nature
I took a ship out of town
planning to run it aground
on ideas, emotions and behavior
Battling the raging seas
I turned away, but you followed me
making the motion of my life
freeze
It was you who convinced me
that life was still worth living
and suffering a part of
existence
But what of this feeling?
Like Ive jettisoned everything
and I find that Im going down
Am I sinking?
And are you sleeping
as the waves crash over me?
Oh God Im drowning,
Im drowning
Then I realize
My heart beats in time
with the rhythm of a love divine
stronger than the currents of doubt that plague humankind
I reach beyond into a new life
Our days roll by...
Our days roll by...
Our days roll by...
Notes
Written 8/6/98. Notes from my journey, and how Ive come to see life as an on-going baptism and each day as a new opportunity. Moving past fear and hopelessness, the realization of our own proximity to the divine can bring us to a new plane of understanding about our place in the world and of peacefulness in our existence.
