July 1, 2000, Paris, France—There's a pony-riding stable near the Courtieux' house in Paris called Ponyland. A square-shaped quarter mile dirt and gravel pathway passes by Ponyland on one side, and Erin and I would take occasional walks of the circuit for fun and exercise.
Given the rock wall of the background, I think this photo was taken about 100 feet from Ponyland after the first turn of the path. This path was also a favorite of Maxwell, the Courtieux' big black lab, and I got the chance to bring him here so he could mark territory on many an occasion.
