Rome, Italy—A typical touristy shot of the Coliseum ruins. I walked around here for a good couple hours just trying to imagine what it would have been like all those hundreds of years ago. Concluded I'd rather not know. Battles to the death have lost a lot of their allure here in the late 20th century...
This was part of my great summer 1990 European "find myself" vacation, the type of soul-searching, out-on-your-own trip that everyone should take at some point in their life. For me, it came at a time where I was uncertain about what it was I wanted out of life and about who I wanted to be. Sure, the travel cost thousands, but it was still probably cheaper than the therapy I would have required. One of my better investments.
